Fonts and Colours

This is the font I chose for my band name and for the main font I use for my band. I chose this font as my band is very 80's themed and the teletext Font is representative of the 80's as it was used in the 80's for TV etc.
I chose white writing with a black background as it makes the writing stand out as the two colours are opposites. The colours also represent our genre as a lot of rock bands have monochrome themed albums.

I chose to use this font for the song titles on my back cover as they stand out from the background as it is in capitals an they all have lines above and below them. I chose to make them white as white stands out from the black background giving it a better look.

Digipak poster construction

This was my first attempt at my poster which includes the picture and background from my front cover.I felt that it was lacking something that would draw someones attention to it and also to make it look more professional.

I decided to put a border around the writing and picture to make them stand out more and put paint splats at the bottom to make is less boring.

After feedback about my poster I decided the middle picture didn't need a border around it and instead to put a border around the whole poster. I also decided to duplicate the background layer and flip it so it comes out the bottom of the band members swell. I feel this gives it a more professional look and the look that I was happy with.

CD disc construction

This was my first idea for a disc which I created by cutting the disc shape out of the guitar case but after feedback I decided it was too similar to the guitar case panel so I had to come up with a new idea.

I the chose to use the red that the car was painted but after feedback realised that colour had nothing to do with the rest of my digipak.
I came up with this new idea keeping the guitar case cutout for the outer ring in the middle and using the khaki green colour I used for the writing on my front cover.I decided to put a scratched overlay over the top of it because without it looked a bit plain.
I decided it was lacking something after some more feedback so I decided to put the symbol for an 'outbreak' onto the disc which I thought would also be a good logo for the album as it fits very well. I also chose to put rewired onto a black background to make it stand out more.
I then decided that the logo seemed to stand out too much and didn't look right so I turned the opacity down and used the eraser to smudge the logo to make it look more eroded and like it fits into the disc more.

However after more feedback it was decided that the red looks better with the rest of my digipak and that the 'outbreak symbol had no relevance with the rest of my digipak so I changed the colour and got rid of the symbol.

Digipak inside cover construction 2

This is the original picture of the guitar case before editing.

I cropped the picture down to get a section of the case I wanted and used a 3D effect to make it more interesting as on its own it seemed a bit boring compared to rest of the panels.

Digipak inside covers construction

This is he original picture of a guitar amp for my inside cover.

I cut the background out and filled it with black. I then put a vignette over it to make the edges darker and draw attention to the middle of the picture.

I felt that just the amp on its own was boring so I decided to cut and slide different sections of the amp to make it more interesting.

Digipak backcover construction

This was the original picture for my back cover.

I cut the background out from the picture and filled it with black. I then chose this font which I think fits well with my genre and put the songs in the album on the grill of the car.

After feedback from other class mates I decided that the lights and windscreen of the car took attention away from the writing so I cropped the image down and added a vignette to blur around the sides to draw all the attention to the writing.

Digipak front cover construction

This was the original photograph for my digipak front cover.

I cut around the car and the band members and added them to a black background.

Using various brush shapes and sizes I created this background to go behind them so it wasn't just boring and black.

Following feedback I decided to put a white border around the edge to give it more of an 80's look.

Narrative reshoot

We decided to do a reshoot of our narrative as we felt our original narrative had no story to it and was boring as we had to improvise due to not being able to find a VHS player. This time however we managed to get hold of a VHS player so we were able to do what we originally planned to do. We filmed our character coming home from work and stumbling upon a video of his old band he used to be in and reminiscing about that time and rocking out whilst watching the video.

Shoot for my digipak

For my digipak I took pictures of the band members whilst in costume for the performance part of the film looking like they were from the 80's. I also took pictures of the Volkswagen sirocco that we had there as well.I took pictures from the front, the back and the wheel.I also took pictures of the guitar case and the amp that we had there for the props. The lighting wasn't ideal as we couldn't do it in a studio as I was taking pictures of a car. The sun was very bright that day and was reflecting of the car making it difficult to get good pictures but I thought i could edit that out on photoshop
